Do I Need a Wedding Website??? YES!

Do I really need a wedding website? Yes, you definitely do. Wedding websites have been around since the early 2000s and have continued to improve and become more user-friendly. There are many free and paid options like The Knot, Wedding Wire, Joy, Minted, etc. These sites can help communicate with your guests the details of your wedding quickly.

What are the benefits of a wedding website?

-Guests can access details about your wedding quickly and easily right from their phones.

-You can digitally collect RSVPs, meal preferences, etc.

-Guests can enter their addresses when RSVPing, making addressing thank yous easy.

-You can quickly update guests on plan changes.

-Guests can find links to your gift registries.

What should I include?

-Event Itineraries - times, locations, dress code, and transportation details.

-Travel & Accommodations - information about airports, transportation options, and hotel room blocks with a link to book a room.

-Your Gift Registry - include the links to your gift registries.

-RSVPs - make sure to share the URL to your website in your invitation.

-Special Details - include things you want to make sure your guests know like adult-only, wedding hashtags, unplugged wedding, etc.

-Covid Protocols - have any health and safety precautions you may be taking at your wedding.

When should I create my wedding website?

-Once you have chosen your wedding date and booked the venue.

-Have your website live by the time you send your save-the-dates.

-Make sure to update your website often.

How should I share my website address?

You can share your website address with your guest on their save-the-dates. Letting them know that more details and updates can be found there. You can also put a separate card in your invitation directing them to RSVP on your website. Don’t put the address on your social media unless you have a private group created and only share it in that group.

Tips

-Consider making your site password protected so only your guest can see your event details.

-You may want to pay a little extra for a private URL, so your guest can easily remember the website address.

-Take the time to include your story. Tell your guests how you met, about your proposal, introduce the wedding party, etc.

-Explain any unique traditions that will be included in your ceremony or reception.

-Make sure your site is mobile-friendly because most guests will access your site from their phones at some point.

-If you can opt-in to notification, make sure you do. This can help notify guests of last-minute changes to your plans.

-If you don’t want your photos posted on your social media accounts, consider directing your guest to come back to your site to view them later.

Remember to check out a few website options and find the one that fits your needs. Update your site regularly to keep your guests informed. Whether you choose to put every detail of your day or only utilize a few options on the wedding website, it can be very useful in connecting with your guest before and after your wedding day.
