There are so many ways to honor loved ones that have passed. This can be for someone who has recently passed or great grandparent that passed several years ago. Because each relationship is different, you may choose to honor each one separately or you may want to honor them all together. Here are several ideas to honor loved ones in your life who may not be here physically, but are kept alive by honoring their memory.
#1 Reserve a Seat for Them
Place a photo, flowers, or a special item that reminds you of them. This can be done for the ceremony and reception.
#2 Make a Special Note
Place a special section in your ceremony program. Include a photo, poem, or special note about them.
#3 Add an Heirloom
Add a locket or photo pin to your bouquet or boutonniere. Tuck an embroidered handkerchief around the base of your bouquet or tuck it in your tux pocket.
#4 Special Attire
Wear her dress or his tie and cufflinks.
#5 A Special Flower
Include a special flower to the bouquet, boutonniere, or décor, that reminds you of your loved one.
#6 Play a Song
You can play a song during your ceremony or reception in honor of them. Some couples honor them by using their loved one's favorite song as their first dance.
#7 Favorite Sweet Treat
Include your grandma’s favorite dessert recipe in addition to your wedding cake. Put a sign next to the dessert to let your guests know it was to honor your grandma’s memory.
#8 Photos in Décor
Include photos of the family members you are honoring on a special table with a decorative sign or special memorabilia.
